LOS ANGELES – Wyndham Clarke took an indirect shot at the United States Golf Association (USGA) at the US Open title on Sunday.
Clarke, who joined Fowler at 7:56 p.m. (10:56 p.m. ET) Saturday at the Los Angeles Country Club, blamed the darkness. on No. 17 and Fowler makes a bogey on No. 18.
“I mean, it’s a little ridiculous that we’re out late,” Clark said. “I’d say the hole started to get to where you couldn’t really see it around 15 or 16. I mean, I personally don’t understand why we teed off – we played twilight golf.
“So it’s kind of tough and it’s crazy to think we’re doing it in the last two holes of a major when we’ve been doing it two hours before. Hopefully we won’t have that problem tomorrow.”
Clark and Fowler are scheduled to tee off Sunday at 2:30 p.m. local time (5:30 p.m. ET).

The USGA, which runs the US Open and sets tee times, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Clark’s comments. Saturday’s late tea times allowed NBC to air its telecast in prime time.
Clarke and Fowler share a 10-under lead heading into Sunday’s final round of the tournament.
Clark won his first PGA Tour event in May at the Wells Fargo Championship. He never finished better than a tie for 75th in a major tournament.
