(NewsNation) – Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who was released from a Missouri prison last week after serving eight years, shared a message with her supporters on social media.
“I'm finally free,” he said in a video posted over the weekend On TikTok and Instagram.
Blanchard, 32, has spent most of the past decade in prison Munchausen syndrome by proxy. After being convicted for his role in Dee Dee Blanchard's death, Godejohn was sentenced to life in prison.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard said years of physical and psychological abuse drove her to crime in 2015.
Throughout Gypsy Rose Blanchard's childhood, her mother fabricated symptoms, misdiagnosed medical conditions and treated her for conditions including leukemia and muscular dystrophy. Although she doesn't need it she is forced to use a wheelchair and feeding tube.
Since being released just days after Christmas, Blanchard has been busy posting about her new life. After marrying special education teacher Ryan Scott Anderson from Louisiana while he was in prison, Blanchard now uses her married name on new social media accounts. Lately, she's been celebrating her independence by going shopping with her family and new husband, spending spa days, and celebrating at welcome-home parties.
“It's nice to be home,” Blanchard said in his video. “I'm back home in Louisiana, it's a beautiful day outside, and there's a lot of great things happening soon.”
This includes a new Lifetime documentary series called “Better Things.”Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, Aired on Jan. 5, A New e-book.
“It's not a retelling of everything that happened,” Blanchard said of the book. “This is a reflection of everything I've learned. Thanks for all the support guys, stay tuned.”
