Madden NFL 25’s cover athlete was revealed earlier this week, and today, EA has provided new details on what fans can expect from Madden this year, including one of this year’s biggest features, the Boom Deck.
In a press release, EA revealed that the Boom Deck is a new “dynamic physics-based” tackle system and a new iteration of Madden’s FieldSense technology that “unlocks a redesigned hit stick” and provides better ball carrier control. With Christian McCaffrey as this year’s cover athlete, Boom Tech’s description is in line with EA’s theme of selecting athletes who are the best fit for new editions of Madden in a given year.
Additional upgrades to FieldSense are needed to “provide increased reliability” on offense, defense and special teams, thanks to Boom Tech. This includes a reloaded hit stick that will now be a skill-based mechanic.
EA notes that Ball Carrier will introduce new jukes, spins and heavy releases to increase aggressive immersion. New NFL kickoff rules will be added when the game releases this August. In addition to new branch catches, there will be new boss block strategy mechanics.
“Developing the Madden NFL experience alongside our players over the past two years has been incredibly rewarding, and we’re excited to offer even more of the control, depth and immersion they’re looking for in Madden NFL 25,” Madden NFL Senior Product Director Mike Maher wrote in a press release. “Boom Tech has been in development for years, and it represents the most impactful FieldSense development, and combined with a new audio and visual experience throughout the game, more in-depth modes and increased customization, Madden NFL 25 will look, feel and sound different. .”
Madden NFL 25 releases on August 16 and is available for pre-order now. Those who purchase the $100 Deluxe Edition get three days’ early access to Madden NFL 25. Those planning to buy Madden NFL 25 and College Football 25 can purchase the MVP Bundle, which retails for $150 and includes deluxe editions of both games.
