ESPN Veteran NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski has agreed to become the general manager of the men’s basketball program at St. Bonaventure, he told ESPN.
Wojnarowski is a St. Bonaventure alumnus and has strong ties to the program, including as a fundraiser for the school’s joint in recent years. He is a 1991 graduate of the Western New York School and a distinguished alumnus of the Jandoli School of Communications.
“It’s the pleasure of a lifetime to return to the university and community I love in a role serving our student-athletes, coaches and organization,” Wojnarowski told ESPN. “I believe he can bring value to our basketball program in many areas and open doors for the future of our youth both professionally and personally.”
Wojnarowski, 55, has worked at ESPN since 2017. He previously worked for Yahoo Sports and The Record of Bergen County (New Jersey).
“I’m retiring from a dream job at ESPN and I’m very grateful for my time and experiences with a global leader,” he said.
The GM role has become more common in college basketball in recent years as the transfer portal has made total roster revenue an intrinsic part of the game. The role includes recruiting and supporting successful Ponies coach Mark Schmidt, assigning name, image and likeness.
