That’s true and absolutely not, because they’ve gone from an embarrassment in Week 5 to the No. 1 offense in the NFL, Prescott is headed for MVP honors, DaRon Bland is making history, and more. en route to a four-game winning streak and a 9-3 record.
And since they last took care of business, six of their last seven have been winners, leaving them within striking distance of leading the NFC East and first in the NFC.
“These are the moments we’ve prepared for,” Prescott said. “It’s not that we haven’t done these past games, because we need all these games, but this stretch of the season – when you look at the schedule – you have to be excited.”
They’ll have to avenge themselves first against the Eagles, however, a team looking to avoid their first two-game losing streak of the season after being demoralized and beaten by the 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field.
Next up is a visit to the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium, where Dallas is riding a 14-game winning streak and will take the 15th lead in the division with a 4-1 record (the Eagles are 3-1 in the NFC East).
It’s a must-play game for the Cowboys for a number of reasons, one of which involves a brutal two-game road trip that takes them to the icy confines of Buffalo and then to the wet blanket of Miami.
“We’re getting better, and that’s the main and important goal, but what’s in front of us is everything we want and want to accomplish, and it starts in December and goes into January — carry that momentum into the playoffs. Go for what the real goal is,” Prescott said. “It’s about continuing to build and ensure these guys [are] Attention, and detail, and discipline are more important than ever.
“And communication has to be at an all-time high. … Appreciating each other on both sides of the ball. … It’s about understanding that we have to trust our brotherhood and everything we’ve built. , for these moments ahead of us.”
There was no shortage of motivation in Dallas this week[end]But it’s also reasonable to believe what McCarthy is still struggling with available — four days later — will resonate in a major way throughout the coaching staff and locker room in the biggest game of the season so far.
“At the end of the day we’re happy he’s healthy, but there’s enough motivation and stuff this week – I guarantee Mike will say the same.” Prescott explained. “I mentioned that maybe that’s why he’s angry, but this team — the discipline that we have, the emotional intelligence that we have — we understand that he’s got to take care of that. That’s part of being a man.
“It’s a credit to the way he trains us to take care of things from here, so when we come in we can all focus on the same goal. Everyone knows what this week is about.”
By all accounts, the Cowboys had some great practices in their matchup against the Eagles, and McCarthy had already reached out to Prescott and others to begin dissecting film over the phone as he recovered from his appendectomy.
A level of commitment at every level gives cowboys the best chance of protecting their home turf against the latest invasion of birds.
“It would be a nice gift for him,” Prescott said. “When we get it, we’re like, ‘You took care of it, here’s your big tub.'”
