Shoppers flock to NH Mall for Black Friday deals

Shoppers were out bright and early at the Mall of New Hampshire for Black Friday shopping, with some arriving as early as two hours before dawn. The mall opened its doors at 6 a.m., with crowds at some stores and long lines at the registers. Some shoppers have been hitting the stores on Black Friday in the Granite State for years, ready to grab the best deals they can find. “We’ve been doing this for about 30 years and now the kids are involved. I’m still here with my parents,” Kelly Hart said. Others are new to the game. “I didn’t really expect it to be like this, I thought it would be crowded, but maybe it’s because it’s morning,” said first-time Black Friday shopper Ava. Retail executives agree that Black Friday is changing. Elizabeth Detrault, the Mall of New Hampshire’s director of marketing, says shoppers are coming in more days now. “I think there’s a lot of opportunity for more people to put their turkey and their bags to sleep and shop all day and join us for great deals,” Detrault said. No change in selling price. This year’s gifts are all about convenience and home electronics.
