The San Francisco 49ers completely dominated the Seattle Seahawks in the first half and never let the game get close beyond that.
San Francisco cruised to a 31-13 victory over Seattle in a key NFC West division battle on Thursday night’s Thanksgiving NFL nightcap.
Seattle’s offense was sloppy for most of the game and its defense couldn’t do much to keep the 49ers out of a big play in the third quarter.
49ers QB Brock Purdy threw a pick-6 to Seattle’s Jordin Brooks early in the second half to cut San Francisco’s lead to 24-10 at the time. Seattle took a field goal to make it 24-13, but never got closer.
Purdy closed the door with his best throw of the day, hitting a 28-yard strike to Brandon Ayuk for a fourth-quarter TD.
That was the only TD pass for Birdie, who finished 21-of-30 for 209 passing yards.
Christian McCaffrey was the main engine of the 49ers offense on Thursday, rushing for 114 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. He now has 11 rushing TDs on the season, a franchise record.
Tebow Samuel also scored a rushing touchdown in the first quarter and led the Niners in receiving with seven catches for 79 yards.
The Seahawks fumbled hard all night, as QB Geno Smith took six sacks and didn’t have much success in the pass game, while scoring just six offensive points.
He completed 18 of 27 passes for 180 yards and an interception.
For San Francisco, the win extends its division lead over the Seahawks to two games. The 8-3 49ers have a huge matchup against the NFC-leading Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 3.
